President Trump Responds After NPC News Quotes Him Out Of Context To Create Fake News

President Trump seized on an opportunity to punish mainstream media news outlet NPC/NBC News this Sunday morning, by calling out how they took part of his campaign rally from Friday night in Ohio completely out of context, in an attempt to make it seem like Trump was praising Confederate States Army commander Robert E. Lee for no reason.
“NBC News has totally and purposely changed the point and meaning of my story about General Robert E Lee and General Ulysses Grant. Was actually a shoutout to warrior Grant and the great state in which he was born. As usual, dishonest reporting. Even mainstream media embarrassed!” Trump said Sunday morning.

The clip below is what NPC News published to social media. This clip only includes President Trump’s praise of Robert E. Lee’s skills as a military leader specifically, but leaves out everything Trump said afterwards about Northern General Ulysses S. Grant.

Trump was simply building up Robert E. Lee in order to show how amazing it was that General Grant defeated him in the end. After praising Lee, Trump said that Grant, “Knocked the hell out of everyone. He started to win. Grant really did. He’s finally being recognized as a great general…and Grant came from right here.” Trump knows how to work a crowd and he was building up Grant so he could connect with his audience through praise.
USA Today also published at least two misleading social media posts, as their text above the posts tried to mainly draw your attention to Trump’s praise for “Confederate commander Robert E. Lee,” and “Of Abraham Lincoln: “He couldn’t beat Robert E. Lee,” as seen in the post below. They know many people will only check out the headline and post text, so their cherry picking here is an effort to mask the true message of Trump’s speech and is therefore fake news.

To be fair, Trump may have done this so he could get away with praising Robert E. Lee in a defensible way. Trump is a 2+2=4 kind of guy. He knows that whether people like it or not, there are many Americans who don’t look back on the Confederacy in a negative way. Praising both sides lets him gain support from both and at least try to unite people together.
But that’s just my own opinion and is mind reading. The fact is that Trump was clearly building up Lee to show how great of a General Grant was. The media is running out of ways to attack President Trump, because if you haven’t noticed already, he is slowly moving towards the redemption phase of his story arch. He’s still the same old Trump, but the compounding effects of the things he’s achieved during his presidency, combined with him being a bit less “unhinged,” are making it hard for the media to paint him in a negative manner.
The media took a break from the whole Trump-Russian scandal conspiracy theory to focus on the Kavanaugh scandal, so now they are having a hard time bringing the narrative back to 24/7 Trump hate. That’s why they are forced to create fake news of the kind we explored in this very post. It’s all a desperation play.
